The Canal near our house looks beautiful in the photo.

It was a walk before dinner time.

I managed to capture Ash and JY's attempt to throw grass into the canal.

An activity they were relentless about and was repeated over and over.

Height and weight and shoe size

HEIGHT at 97cm
(That's why during the trip to universal studio 3 days ago, we had to leave him out for one trip. Most of the height limits are above 122cm. Those above 88cm had to have our supervision. He will soon grow much taller, but really universal studio is not as great for little kids as Disney)

WEIGHT at 13 kg

SHOE SIZE at UK 8.5
(we bought a pair of clark dress shoes for him at UK 9.5 one week ago at the Isetan members' promotion and it fitted nicely with a tiny bit of space at the hind)

FOOD
He is such a chinese food guy. He eats a lot of rice / porridge and noodles / pasta with fish. Anything soupy with porridge and or bee hoon would be the best. But he is quite picky with food. If the fish is not fresh, he would spit it out. Over cook, is a no. Too salty, no.

If we had to eat out and have to go western, i had to find fries, or a good pasta ( he likes both cream and tomatoes). If very hungry, will take the fish in a plate of fish and chips. Ate one nugget at mcdonald during our snow city / science center visit. I felt guilty for stuffing him with fries and ice-cream for fear he would go hungry later.
Vege: if he doesn't eat them, we grind them into his soup for him to drink it. He seems to enjoyed green coloured looking soup. And will finished a bowl of green soup.

Fruits: guava.... we are surprise but he love them. Tomatoes are a must. If I can't find anything when we eat out suitable for him, just find something with fresh tomatoes.

Rest Day!

I insisted not to do anything or go anywhere today, so that everyone gets some rest. Even that, there are still some errands to run. But i kept JY in the house, occupying him with books and a movie. Ad brought him out to the playground later in the evening to get some fresh air and so he is not addicted to our i-phones.
They used the spade for making sand castles and dig up a hole in the playground. "looking for treasures" apparently like one of the books we read. Covering it up later. This is him and his excavator and dump truck. We can't go to anywhere with sand without this two toys.

We spend some time with grandma Vivian today. She decides to bring us to a trip to JB. So we all drive down. We had lunch at one of the famous seafood noodles shop in JB. An hour later, in the Jusco Mall, the kids saw the donut shop and stop for another 2 donuts.

Snow City 1 June 2011

The first week of June holidays are packed with planned activities.

We bought snow city tickets on promotion $7 each at an education exhibition one month earlier. It was a good choice.

The kids really had fun.

We spent extra for Planet Sharks.

The kids love the 3 huge panels of video clips showing different types of sharks swimming.

And the two of us got some rest after an hour inside the snow. We were just happy to rest our legs while the kids got mesmorised by video clips and ran from one panel to another.

Below is one of the photos we took outside the exhibition.

We couldn't bring our camera into snow city, these are taken by the staff photographers. We had to get them into thick winter wears, gloves and snow boots before we get into the snow. And they looked so chubby, especially JY, it was so funny just to see them walked.

Next Mummy and JY! It was a bit scary for him, even though i hold him tight. But the tube turned half way through sliding and we slided backwards towards the end. I was surprised, and was more concerned for JY. He was braved but will not do it anymore.

The rest of the time, they just had simple fun playing snow. And me and ad took turns to slide down again.

Snow angels! The kids were such a joy. Lying on the snow waving their limbs. Of course the snow was too dry to leave an imprint. But the joy on their face made everything worth well. All our pants were wet from the snow. Thank God I was kiasu enough to bring changes for ALL of us.

School Holiday

A beautiful Family Trip

We had to stop the crowd from walking past them and waited patiently for the word "Universal..." to turn around
and captured at the right moment.

It was hilarious.

He is 97cm and the water ride requires a height of 122cm.

He was sorely disappointed.

We were hot and sweaty. The ice-pops are really a welcoming treats.

We love this. JY saw a tiger tail and wouldn't let go.

We got him the set of ears and pin the tail with a safety pin on his shorts.

He was really proud of it and gave us a tiger roar around the table and chairs

before our ice-pops treats.

It was really funny.

Apparently, our dear son has no concept of being "Number 1" yet. His favourite toy train was Gorden, " the fastest express train engine " with a No.4 printed on the engine. So when we praised him and told him he was "number 1", he replied immediately : " No! I am number 4!"

1) I was teasing him about a piece of chocolate cake he ate halfway. I asked if i could have it since he is full. His answer: "of course not mummy, leave it alone" . His voice was sweet and the otherwise rude remark was made amusing by the fact that he could use the phrase "leave it alone."

2) "buka buka"
The "in" word for him this week. He made up his own words recently when he couldn't find enough vocabulary to convey how he feel. "buka buka" are embrassing and or naughty moments when he couldn't find expressions. :)

My dad decided to teach the two little ones how to make traditional 汤圆。He and mum saw some coloured flour for making these little balls. It was so cheap he had to buy it and allow the two grandkids to play with them. It was a playdough session with gong gong.

Indian Traditional Costumes

When i went to India in Jan 2010 for Spirits Play at New Delhi. Noushad's wife bought us each a present and she got this traditional Indian suit for JY. It was in my heart to email Noushad the photos and never get to do it. This lovely couple are a dear in my heart. :) Finally in Aug 2010, i think it was racial harmony day, he got to wear it to school and show off. It was in the morning, the garden was beautiful at Gong Gong's place. I am so glad he has something really special (because it was from uncle Noushad) rather than the usual CNY red chinese costumes.

Yeap! JY is still mesmerized by Excavator. Daddy went out with him to pick up lunch from Aunty Iris. On the way back, on 20th Feb 2011, Sunday. There's the excavator. Daddy took time to explain how the big machine work this time and allows JY to climb on top it.

Making cookies during December school holidays

I planned a series a play things to do during December School holidays. One of these include making cookies at Ashley's Kitchen, with Aunty Iris as the chief cook. The both of them are so cute. :) By the way, they lick the chocolate on their palm and smeared it with saliva before it was baked. *iiiick! But the cookies were eaten by certain loving family members anyway. :)

First Surgery

We'll probably never forget this day.
Unfortunately on Jayden's 2 year old birthday party.

JY didn't get to nap that afternoon. We allowed him to play past 7pm, which was dangerous because he is tired. The knocked on the chair resulted in two stiches under the chin. A whole night in the KK hospital A&E.

After that, he was told that he has been a hero for withstanding all the pain and that all heros got some stiches somewhere. :) These photos were sent to our loving and concern friends and relatives.

Coconuts and Gong Gong

I've been wanting to blog this for quite a while.
Dad got a few coconuts, he chop of the husks and got us the coconut water and its flesh. JY had ball of a time playing beside and watching Gong Gong's trick of opening the coconuts. It was a beautiful moment.

Happened somewhere in 2010, when JY was turning 3 and Gong Gong was 65.

The Treetop Walk

Our Family's first treetop walk. First time for everyone. :)
Obviously, JY was carried 85% of the time. Meaning for the 7km we walked, he was piggy back or carried at least 5.5km. But he is only three, we don't have the heart to make him walk any further than he wanted or wished.

It was 1 September, Teacher's day. A school holiday for both JY and mummy. So the two of us went to East Coast in the morning, had a huge mcdonald breakfast, and proceed to beach. It was around 11am, too hot to get into the water, so i hide him in the shade of the huge trees and JY happily occuppied himself by digging sands with his own hands... much to my horror. But he creatively used the leaves and sticks on the ground to play by himself.

Reading the Tale of Peter Rabbit

I worked the whole day and JY overslept till 630pm into the evening. So for the long long night before he finally knocks off. We read the complete tales of Beatrice Potter. :) The first book was written in 1902, The Tale of Peter Rabbit. :)

Mummy's note

My dear son decided not to go school (childcare) today. He cried really hard in school and it was so hard to leave him there.
(He has not done that before, usually just mild sobbing and when i'm gone he stops.... how do i know? I hide behind the walls to listen and make sure he stops his cries before i go off.... yeap! That's what i did....)

Had 30 min to decide what to do with him, before i go off to work. Brought him home in the end. He was much happier. Parents flew off to Hokkaido last night. Have to tell our helper to stop all housework to entertain him the whole day.

The Sky Park

We stayed one night over at Marina Bay Sands Hotel. What we love most - the sky park. Unfortunately, it's been overcrowded and quite hot at the pool, so we did a night swim around 9pm under the stars. :) The city night was beautiful from the 57th floor looking over from the swimming pool, plus plus... being there with love ones. :)

JY is officially 28th months old
(aka: 2 yrs 3 mths)

He was so intrigue by the soft friendly " tiger" @ the Zoo store.
Tried to convince him that tigers have to be left in the zoo,

took him awhile to put that $1380 tiger oneside.

JY was already sleepy by then, still he insisted on walking on,

but sat on my lap to watch this one. Then mah mah took a pic of us with the Orang utans.

Moths and butterflies in a plastic tub

A neighbour planted these flowers at the playground where we frequent.

One of the things we did was to use an empty plastic container

to trap the moths flying on the flowers.

The strategy was simple:

Simply invert the plastic container,

catch the moth while it was on the flower

with steady hand and lift up the container inverted.
Thus, we had many good times catching moths and letting them go after.

This series of photos are JY insisting on catching his own.

He didn't quite understood the theory behind catching it.

But enjoys himself tremendously anyway.

What we like: the garden in the playground looks beautiful on camera! :)

The excavator craze

We have to take this photo.

There was also the tug-boat pulling a barge with two excavators,
and two dump trucks carrying sands after the excavator dug up the sand.
It was a feast for JY since he had only seen the big machines in books
and on the road where we pointed out to him.

We were having breakfast on east coast park sunday morning and walked down the stretch of sea where the sand were being changed. While quickly taking the photos, we were hoping to be passed off as tourists..... It's not everyday you get to be near a REAL excavator and have your photo taken with it.....

Mid Autumn Festival 2009

We didn't intent to celebrate.

But since the kids were around, and it's a saturday, we decided to get some lanterns.

Gong Gong hang it up and daddy had this grand idea of using JY's shoes to balance the stick. Mummy decided it ought to go up the blog.

It's MoonCake festival!

the little one played lanterns and sleep at 8 o'clock.

we thought his would be the first to go up in smoke.

A traumatic event for little JY

We were in Rasa Sentosa for the last weekend of June holiday. The room we booked was facing the forest instead of the sea. In the afternoon, I decided to dry his bear on the balcony outside the room (he hugs the bear to sleep, it's called pinkpink! cos it's pink....) After about 10mins, a group of monkeys came, one snatched the bear.

JY cried out for his bear, but I couldn't do anything! Anyway, it was an exciting event trying to get the bear from the monkey but i decided against it later. I rather get a new bear for him when i saw the monkey biting it. So instead i took some photos, evidence of the monkey toying with his pinkpink! and jumping off into the forest.

JY was so sad, his dad felt sorry and went out to get him another bear. But because we couldn't get the same colour again, it's been two weeks and he still calls out for "pinkpink!" and "ou..ou..ou.." the sound of the monkey while pointing to the tree.

Being me, I couldn't stop laughing whenever i told the story and show off the photos from my phone. So it has to be on the blog.

The monkey jumped off from the balcony and was in the tree with pinkpink!

This is after the trip to Kuantan. I thought i should entertained him further as i am on holiday too. This children art magazine published by women's weekly, there was one page on spray painting for children around two years old. So me and adrian went Daiso and bought some cheap bottle sprays, child apron, water paints ( so that i can add colors on it) and majong papers. And, that's one lesson on art during June holiday 2009. :)

On 3 May 2009 sunday, after we dropped Grandma vivian off to her friend's party, we swing by the Botanical garden. And decided to just stop by the Children garden.

The only thing we ever get to go near was the water fountain. JY saw it and refused to leave the place until he gets to play in it.

Falling sick

At Olive Tree clinic today, he was measured to be 83cm and 11.29kg. Plus he is teething, all 5 teeth popping out at the same time.

We brought him out to two weddings yesterday, was showing him off to everyone. Didn't realised the little one can get too exhausted and exposed to too many air-borne virus. He had high fever since this morning. From 37.9 all the way to 38.9 around 5pm. That's when we rushed him to the clinic.

Daddy took child care leave to stay with JY for the day since mummy needs to work and gong gong and mah mah went overseas.

Ear infection and throat infection. He's been to the clinic every month since Feb this year. Really

hope he gets out of the cycle soon!!

Uncle Qing & Aunty Shirley's wedding

This day was also meaningful for JY because as all the other little cousins were running around on the carpet floor, he was entice and encourage to walk away from us on his own. The carpet flooring proves to be fall proof, he fell and got up himself again, many times. And from that day onwards, he has been quite independent, with the courage to walk by himself. :)

Ashley is back from Hong Kong. We decided to visit the zoo together. Daddy had free corporate zoo pass, we took two cars and everybody went except the 2 daddies (who were working) and the two dogs (who had to stay at home) . We were there for two hours. After the initial excitment on having close encounters with real animals, me and ashley took turns to sleep....... we ended up eating at the cafe and headed home soon after.....

Mummy's comment: Benazir Bhutto was assinated less than two months later down the road. A shock to the world. Mummy grief for Pakistan.

Later mummy asked daddy what else happened on that day. His reply was, " I only know that my son was born on that day. It's all that matters. " ....... We love you.

Day 2 of JY's life

Second day of your life.

We were still at KKH. There were still groups of paparazzi ( mummy and daddy's many friends & relatives) coming over almost every other hour trying to take your pictures.

Aunty Amy came and took this one photo of you. I like it because unlike the first day, where you scratch yourself all over the face. In this photo you look calm and well rested in my arms.

When you were born, you are 2.795KG and 46cm. A blue bundle of joy that can be held in one arm. :)

You threw up most of the formula milk. We place you high up on the shoulder hoping
you would feel better.... no avail....

925pm:
Hugging you up the chest, resort to using pacifier. You aren't crying, just whinning. We know you are uncomfortable, just didn't know what to do to make you feel better. Usually i 'm quite helpless in situations like this.

10pm:
Tita brought you downstairs, hoping the movements will help soothed you. Heard Grandpa and Grandma speaking to you cheerfully. I bet you look up brightly at them. Your whinning ceased.

Your last full feed was at 615pm, at 915pm, you threw up most of the milk. For a little person that drinks every two hours, are you sure you are ok?

New set of drawers

Here's daddy fixing a set of drawers on 26th September 2007.
For the record it's filled with your stuffs, just reusable nappies filled up one drawer. You can't imagine the amount of stuffs you already have before you were born.

These were the maps and tools that allowed daddy to feel like a man.

The almost finished product. Oh well, you get to see the real thing when you are out. :)

It all starts with God

Lost your latest ultrasound pix..... together with the hospital booklet.... not sure if i left it in Bukit Batok or Limau Purut.

I can only say it'll turn up somewhere, cos i kept it preciously somewhere...

But it's the day we knew you are a Boy.

Everyone's excited about you. But then i couldn't decide what to do with a boy. How to dress you, how to educate you...etc... mummy has been a woman all these years and only look at pink stuffs for babies.

So.. among other things which i was asking from God, he woke me up one morning and directed my eyes to a small little booklet of Purpose Driven Life.

Later when i was online with aunty Jean, she gave a confirmation about God shouting into her ears while exercising. SO GOD DOES SPEAK. God tells her to pray for the weather. *HAHAHAHA-HAHA* ( She's in New Zealand, and they desperately needed some sunshine during winter) and she got the good weather she prayed for.. I bet she went out to play immediately the next day.

So I read one page to you, you responded by fipping / kicking from the womb. :)

Full Frontal
Last night, went to watch a play i got to play a part in and then turned away because of the pregnacy. There was a double surprise because it was a double bill and the play that came after that has a beautiful idea of creating an ideal much better than a research i have done in TTRP. Something i had not been able to manage and create out of some flux ideas I had along the way, and than which the female director has done in this case. She has done it beautifully, re-doing a play from the 60s along with interviews in the past and imbedding what one would think of history today.

Then i woke up at 6am this morning.

Part of me maturing to be a mum is to deal with my own guilt and disappointment, if not, of being unable to do the things i selfishly wanted to do.

Making decisions of walking the path of life chosen.

To learn to grief for what i have lost in order embrace the new life chosen.

What a hard choice.....

In between GUILT and DISAPPOINTMENT

the problem as been, it always took me sometime to figure out what to do with my life. My ideal of what i wanted to do came in between searching and much flux. And marriage and family that came later, came because it came.

真是可笑，
或许在寻找当中可以更独立的寻求并设立自己。
自己是什么，在许许多多选择中就慢慢形成。

还找不到自己，或许就也无法告诉别人要如何去寻求自己的人生吧。

我想，可能我不该为讨生活教那么多生活戏剧。
作为一个在寻求的人来说，在找到生活平衡点之前教别人能为人生做些什么，实在是多余。
